Continuing Ed: Fort Robinson

2022

When: June 20-24, 2022
Where: Fort Robinson State Park (Crawford, NE)
Speaker: Rev. Dr. Adam Koontz
Topic: Classical Lutheran Homiletics: Learning from the Past for the Church’s Future

How did our forefathers preach? This class will look at the homiletics of Reinhold Pieper, J. Michael Reu, and many others, mining the best that the past offers us so that we can preach better today with more insight, clarity, and power. Timeless topics like the fivefold use of Scripture in application and the difficulties of outlining will be covered alongside the fathers’ now-forgotten advice about how long sermons should be and how to make your gestures more natural in the pulpit. No knowledge of German is needed nor is there anything to buy beforehand; only a desire to improve your preaching is necessary.
